YBOR CITY — Fifteen local artists will share their collections and creativity during a “Spring Fling: Celebrating Moms,” event on May 6 and May 7, the day before Mother’s Day. The art event takes place at Coppertail Brewing Company’s private loft above the brewery at 2601 East 2nd Ave., Tampa.

Jayne Lisbeth of Seminole Heights, one of the organizers, said pets are welcome.

“We have a lot of art and jewelry, which everyone loves,” she said. “There will be beer and food trucks. It’s a one-stop shopping and love experience to celebrate your mom. Come out and do something fun with her all day.”

She said people will find items and experiences that are non-traditional and unusual. For example, artist Theresa Crout will sell her handmade “voodoods” or voodoo doll art.

Also, Victoria Hawkins gives intuitive art readings.

“She sits down with someone and talks to them about their life and who they are and takes down notes,” Lisbeth said. “As they are talking, she does a painting. At the end of the reading, they get the painting and the notes incorporated into the painting.”

Other participating artists include Francine Bauer with her original oils and encaustic paintings and Judy Bales, who is a printmaker. David Beebe, an art photographer, will share his cards and prints along with his artist wife, Patricia, who sells watercolors. Lisa Gellens and Stephanie Harden are jewelry makers who will be on hand. Other artists include Lisbeth’s husband, Tim Gibbons, with his acrylic paintings, original pen and ink drawings, prints, collectible toys, comics and vinyl. Macy Higgins will sell acrylic paintings and prints; Matthew Johnson has original illustrated clothing and screen prints. Colene Milligan sells acrylic paintings; Lloyd Johnson sells space-age gun sculptures; Teri Navajo has original paintings and prints; Gianna Pergamo has mixed-media paintings and art objects; Hoolie Prytyka has original paintings, prints, apparel and gifts; and Mary Sultenfuss sells original paintings.

Coppertail Brewing is known for its craft beers that accompany the Beastro food truck’s menu offerings.

Gibbons, an art instructor, said the event is meant to intrigue moms.

“There’s something here for moms of all ages,” he said.

Navajo, an abstract artist who teaches spiritually intuitive-guided painting workshops, said she is passionate about art as well as craft breweries. She will be one of the artists showing and offering her art.

“We hope this will be a great treat to take your mom to for her special day,” Navajo said.

The art show and sale, which is free and open to the public, takes place May 6 from 4-10 p.m. and May 7 from noon to 10 p.m.
